Medzev, a small town in the east of Slovakia, near Kosice, was founded in the 13th century by the German collonists. Up to this day there are still many inhabitants speaking a german dialect – "Mantak" dialect. There are around 4000 inhabitants currently living in the town of Medzev. Mr Rudolf Schuster, the former President of Slovakia, was born here.

Mgr. Vojtech Schmiedt, local inhabitant, high school teacher and a borsoi fan, founded in 1990 the borsoi kennel "Tschaikowskij".

The first borsoi in this new kennel was Almaz Nevskyi from an slovakian breed.  It was a very nice dog and won a couple of local dog shows. In 1990 there was a new addition to our kennel – Dargi Aristion-Bohemia, mighty borsoi from a czech kennel with a great coat. His father was Falkner von St. Peterburg, World Champion, probably the most impressive borsoi then and even now. Dargi was very successful in the national and international dog shows all around Slovakia.

From a well-known kennel Sofena from the Czech Republic we acquired a female borsoi Gisela Sofena. With Dargi being the father, she gave birth to six puppies.

Borsoi kennel Tschaikowskij acquired other borsois from czech breeders – Alexander z Bilmy and Royal Rubl Nijinski Ballet. Royal Rubl was a tall borsoi (88 cm), very gentle, elegant and inteligent. Royal was followed by Amur Nevskyj Variage Gold. Amur is a strong dog with a beatiful fur coat all year around and is a good guardian as well. He achieved many successes in the national and international dog shows, he is the Slovakian Champion and the winner of TOP Slovakia borsoi 2005.

These great achievements were repeated and enhanced by his son, Cupressus Bistkupstwo, the Slovakian Champion and the winner of TOP Slovakia 2006 and 2007. Cupressus is very impressive, very tall borsoi and is always admired by the visitors of the dog shows.

Cymabresjeva Larissa, imported female borsoi from the well-known Holland breeder Mr Wim de Groot, joined our kennel in December 2008. The father is Anaieff De L’Hermitage D’Eole from the world-known French breeder Mme Sylvia Guillon and the mother Gatcha Cymabresjeva.

In the Spring 2011 we have welcomed a new addition to our kennel - Dvorjanin Tsarskij Mraja from the breeder Jana Mrazova. The father of the dog is Kudeyar iz Razdolia, imported from the most successful Russian kennel, the mother is Amuri-Pajkos Desszert, imported from Hungary.
